Case Study - Examples of Quality Workmanship

Attic Remodel

A typical remodeling project that had some design and implementation challenges. This was an opportunity to show some creativity with the design and the meticulous execution of the construction.

A Finished Attic

Becoming a homeowner is exciting; you can finally create your dream home without getting permission from a landlord or making temporary changes. When our client finally closed on her Kentucky property, she wasted no time transforming her attic into a space that was needed for her growing family.

Before getting in touch with DJE Construction, our client had spoken to and received a quote from a competitor, but she was unconvinced she’d be getting the result she was after. They wanted someone she could trust to handle the project from start to finish.

Understanding The Process

Since the client had never renovated before, she had no idea what to expect. To put her mind at ease, we gave them a thorough explanation of the remodeling process and discussed their goals for the project.

When they purchased their home, our client knew they had additional space they could convert to a liveable area for guests and family. As it stood, the attic space was perfect to incorporate a complete “apartment” into the design as well as additional storage and new flooring.

Establishing The Project Scope

The quote she obtained from the original contractor gave Laura an indication of what her renovation may cost. Because of that, she planned to spend a lot for the initial design.

After considering her options , our client decided to add a small bathroom to the plans which raised the final cost of the project slightly.

A niche aspect of the project was constructing the staircase into the design without closing it off to the rest of the space. The space-saving solution was to use an open cable knee wall that opened the entire space. With the design and product selection complete, DJE Construction organized a team of professionals to execute the plans.

The Finished Design

After just four weeks, our crew finished the remodel; the result is a warm and functional apartment.  The new wood-look vinyl flooring runs from the stairs through to the living area, creating a cohesive, connected space that is enhanced by the addition of the bathroom.

The soft, yet bold colors accentuate the detailed trim and window presentations. Other noteworthy construction elements are the hidden closets, open shelves, smooth wall finishes, and durable flooring.

Final Thoughts

This renovation altered the dynamic of the entire home by creating an additional living space that blended in with the existing style. The flooring, which played such a key role in transforming the tying the rooms together is one of the most impactful features.
